Two Girls (Women), One Outfit
There Are Two Sides to Every Outfit
Lauren used to be a cheerleader. Topie used to be someone who wore all black and looked at people funny- well, maybe she still does that. Two different worlds came together- Lauren and Topie adore being around each other, watching movies, going on walks, celebrating fun times and holidays, rappin’ about various topics, and looking at stuff to wear, playing fashion police – ya know, “girl time”. The 10-freeway brings them directly to one another. Got to love it when there’s no traffic.
Lauren’s an accomplished actress and stylist. She’s appearing in national commercials for major brands and has her own company: Double Take Image Consulting. Lauren’s also a gal about town, involved with West Side Comedy and local theater productions. She also has a feature thriller film coming out. Find Lauren’s Style board here. Lauren is a Pacific Palisades gal, ie. extreme Westsider.
Topie also used work in commercials, but has retired from that to pursue television and film writing. For a large portion of her 20s, she was dressed by the wild drag queens of New York City. Topie mainly stays at home with her wonderful pup (#smalldogbigwanderlust) named Bea (who Topie claims is one reason for not dressing nicer and wearing mostly dark colors). Topie has a “What Not to Wearing Yourself” board. What do you think of these looks? Topie is a Downtown LA dweller, ie. Eastsider to the max.
Lauren shows a modern 20-something’s point of view on clothes and Topie provides insight into how a stubborn tomboy 30-something gal thinks of dressing oneself… You can find more her of antics at Tomboy-TV.
One week, they will dress as each other (switch styles) and write about it! Future ideas: Lauren & Topie go check out fashion in other cities and find other pairs of gal pals with contrasting styles. Can you contain yourself, really now?
We love fashion and style, but more importantly we love each other- it’s about female friendship! Fashion can be about encouraging and learning from each other. It doesn’t have to be about women one upping each other or putting each other down.
